Hey! I’m Cad, which could be short for Cadmus (who was transformed into a dragon) or Caddisfly (who weaves a cloak of trash) or Cadaeic (who names the numbers of π).
I’m a semi-closeted transmasc Australian above the age of 25. I used to be on Tumblr under @cadaeix, and then I left for Twitter, but now I’m back, and I wanted a new dashboard.
I’m currently very into 18th/19th century Royal Navy officers and the naval history of the Napoleonic Wars, but other interests include creative writing, worldbuilding, literary analysis, tabletop roleplaying games and the theory of, bad computer science jokes, cats and more. I occasionally use my Literature degree to help me write fanfic.
Update as of July 2023: I am now very into Napoleon and his marshals, in particular Marshals Lannes, Murat, Ney and Soult. I am no longer sorry for the frenchposting.
Fandoms that may appear include FFXIV, Pokemon, The Terror, the webserials Worm, Ward, Pact and Pale, the Aubrey-Maturin novels/the Aubreyad, Hornblower, Animorphs, Discworld, various sci fi novels, various tabletop RPGs and others. I only really tag the things I’ve experienced or am interested in.
I may also shout into the void about my creative writing projects, which currently include an urban fantasy about a zoomer archaeology undergrad befriending a ghostly navy captain of a Flying Dutchman-like spirit.
